PRESS RELEASE
Polling District Added in Buena Vista Township The Township Committee is very pleased to announce that after many years of trying, an additional polling district has been added in Buena Vista Township. Residents of Cranberry Run, a 296 unit mobile home community, will now have their own polling district. The Township is proud to have been able to assist these residents. On December 10, 2001, Township Clerk LaVerne Gunter at the request of the Township Committee and Committeewoman Sue Barber wrote a letter to the Atlantic County Board of Elections to support the establishment of Cranberry Run as a separate polling district. The Atlantic County Board of Elections, at their March 25, 2002 meeting, reviewed and approved the new polling location. The Township Committee reviewed the redistricting at their April 1, 2002 meeting and accepted the new district. It will be called District 6. The Township Clerk LaVerne Gunter and Administrator Ron Trebing made an inspection of the Community Center at Cranberry Run, and determined that the Community Center met all the requirements to serve as a polling place. Additionally, the Township Clerk has reviewed all the streets to be included in District 6 and submitted them to the Atlantic County Board of Elections for their review. District 6 will include all streets in Cranberry Run and the Township’s side of Wheat Road from Tuckahoe Road to Lincoln Avenue. Committeewoman Sue Barber has received numerous requests in the past year for the polling location. “We had to wait for the new election cycle to start in 2002 so the Board of Elections could review the request” Barber stated. “Many attempts have been made to establish a polling location at Cranberry Run - this time the Board of Elections saw fit to approve it and we are very pleased”, added Mayor Chuck Chiarello.
