Schools in need of improvement in Cumberland and Atlantic co 8/17/07

Following is the preliminary status of area schools designated as "in need of improvement" for 2007-08 in the annual No Child Left Behind report released by The state Department of Education

Affected schools may give students the option of transferring to another school within the district or receiving free private tutoring or other extra services. In year four, affected schools are also expected to begin corrective action plans, and after year five must develop restructuring plans.

Districts listed as "hold" did make adequate yearly progress in 2006-2007, but under the law must do so for two years before they are removed from the list.
