School Based Program at Buena Regional High Benefits Young People
The Buena Regional School District has joined forces with the New Jersey Department of Human Services and AtlantiCare Behavioral Health, Inc. in a collaborative effort to establish the Buena Teen Center at the high school.
The Buena Teen Center is a school-based program for the youth seeking support, information and social services. The program includes services such as: Employment Training, Health Education, Case Management, Substance Abuse, Mental Health and Recreational Services.
One particular program, the Work Readiness Program was designed to encourage students to continue their education and at the same time prepare them for eventual entry into the workforce. The program includes: student exploration of career interests, student instruction on completing job applications, interviewing skills and appropriate dress in the workplace. Another resource, the Psychoeducational Groups addresses concerns and feelings that are associated with anger management, divorce and separation, substance abuse, self-esteem/skill building and cultural diversity workshops.
