BVT celebrates 2nd Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
Buena Vista Township Special Events Committee celebrated the 2nd Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 7, 2001 at the Township Municipal Building on Harding Highway in Buena. The tree lighting tradition is Buena Vista’s way of welcoming in the Holiday Season and saluting the coming winter months!
The event brought out the holiday spirit in everyone. The program included a spiritual invocation by Reverend Donald Lark of the First Baptist Church of Richland, holiday music and a fire truck parade complete with lights and sirens to alert everyone that Santa Claus was on his way.
The fire trucks were provided by the Richland and East Vineland Volunteer Fire Companies and BVT EMS. Musical talent and performances were provided by the Bud Dennis Holiday Band, the Abundant Life Children’s Choir and members from the Buena Regional High School Music Department under the direction of Mr. McCausland.
To the delight of everyone, Santa arrived with Mrs. Claus and their elves. He performed the traditional lighting ceremony of the Official Township Tree. Afterward Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves took photos with the children and listened to all of their “wish lists.”
Refreshments were served, which included cookies, donuts (donated by Dunkin Donuts), coffee and apple cider from Simone’s Apple Farm.
The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony was a huge success! Next year’s ceremony promises to continue on with the tradition. See you December 6, 2002!
