BVT Removes Scrap Tires From the Environment

Buena Vista Township held a Tire Amnesty Drop Off on Saturday, October 6, 2001 at the Public Works Yard. The Atlantic County Department of Health and the ACUA funded the program.

Atlantic County supports the removal of scrap tires from the environment and has established the Scrap Tire Management Project. The project involves three main components: 1) Residential "tire amnesty" days, 2) Municipal scrap tire removal and 3) Clean up of the Perona tire pile in Mullica Township. The goal of this program is to reduce mosquito-breeding sites in the county and to help control the spread of West Nile Virus and other mosquito borne illnesses.

Tires will continue to be accepted at the ACUA facility on Delilah Road in Egg Harbor Township on the first Saturday of the month through the end of the year.
