Our Lady of the Lakes celebrates 25th Anniversary

Our Lady of the Lakes celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Parish on October 21, 2001.  Over the past 25 years the Parish has undergone many trials and tribulations.  However, through it all they have maintained the strength and faith to persevere.  As a result, they have triumphed with a sense of dignity and grace.

A solemn liturgy of thanksgiving was celebrated at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Lakes Church.  The main celebrant was Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio.  Concelebrating with Bishop DiMarzio was the founding Pastor, Rev. Msgr. John Cooke and Pastor, Reverend  Marjan L. Bober.  In addition, all of the Camden Diocese were in attendance.  Gospel was read by the Parish’s Permanent Deacon,  Edward Freed.  Under the direction of Mary Ims, a retired choral director of St. John of God Parish in Mays Landing, a 25 voice-choir also gathered for this special occasion.

A gala social celebration followed at Merighi’s Savoy Inn in East Vineland at 4:00 pm.  Participants partook in the dinner feast along with dancing as part of the celebration.  Live entertainment was provided by Darryl Barnett’s VIP Mobile Disc Jockey Services.

Mayor Chuck Chiarello and the Buena Vista Township Committee presented the Parish with the Community Excellence Award in recognition of 25 years of inspiration, dedication and community service.

Congratulations and continued success to Our Lady of the Lakes Church!
