Local Student Kristina Reed of Collings Lakes Reflects on Her Experiences as a Student Ambassador

On July 6, 2001 I started a journey through Europe that showed me the true colors of many countries.  A program called People to People Student Ambassadors allowed me to travel to Greece, Italy, France and England.

I saw many sites, such as the Eiffel Tower, Saint Peter’s Vatican and the Tower of London.  The program also provided a home-stay family for three days out of 21 days of my trip.  The kind, home-stay family was in Limousin, France, three hours away from Paris.  It was a magnificent site to approach the small beaches of Corfu, with its cool waters and warm air along with the scents of a type of flower that grows around the volcano Mount Vesuvius, which caused the destruction of Pompeii.

On the trip I met many people from many different countries.  I met people as far away as Australia to people as close as the neighboring states of the United States, visiting the great sites with my group.  Those who could not speak English to us tried their hardest to break the language barrier.  It was a great experience for me and I’d surely love to do it again.  I would wish to discover more new things and learn more of the great sites that are to offer in our world.

This program has allowed me to taste the different cultures our world has.

Thank you, to those that helped me and sponsored me, so I could have this once in a lifetime opportunity.
