Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company Honors Ellwood Seelman

After 56 years of dedicated service as a Volunteer Fireman, the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company held a dinner in recognition of Chief Ellwood Seelman who is retiring.  The dinner was on Saturday, March 31, 2001 where the Chief received many awards and recognition for his service to the community.

Mayor Chuck Chiarello and Committeeman Mike Rivera represented Buena Vista Township at the event.  They presented Chief Seelman with a plaque on behalf of the Township Committee.  The Dorothy Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad has traditionally provided service to the residents of Buena Vista Township under Chief Seelman’s leadership.

Chief Ellwood Seelman became a member of the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company in 1945.  He served as Assistant Chief from 1949 to 1950.  In 1951 he was elected Chief of the Company and in 1969 he was elected as life chief of the company.
