Buena Vista Township Officials Pleased With Crime
Statistics
Crime rates are dropping. Crime is lower in the state than it has been in 30 years, according to the Uniform Crime Report for 1999 to 2000. Atlantic County leads in decreasing crime.
The crime index for Buena Vista Township last year was 106. Buena Vista Township had one of the lowest crime index figures for Atlantic County. Corbin City and Port Republic, two small communities, reported the least crime.
State officials are proud that New Jersey is ahead in the nation with a drop in crime and Atlantic County is leading the counties. Aggressive policing, longer prison sentences for repeat offenders and more community involvement are some of the reasons for the decrease, officials say.
