BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP

NAMED KINDEST TOWN IN NEW JERSEY

On April 4, 2001, the Buena Vista Township Clerk LaVerne Gunter received a special telephone call from Andrea Inverso Coordinator of the Statewide Kindness Awareness Campaign to inform us that Buena Vista Township has been chosen to hold the title of “Kindest Town in New Jersey!”

That’s exactly what Buena Vista Township has done, out of all the towns in New Jersey, Buena Vista has come out to be number one in “Kindest Place in New Jersey.”  Right along side this wonderful forthcoming came the announcement of our very own Mayor of Buena Vista Township, Chuck Chiarello, who became recognized as the “Kindest Mayor in New Jersey.”

Hand and hand these two prestigious honors go together and recognition was given to Buena Regional High School for winning 3rd place in the “Kindest School in New Jersey”. This school will be presented with the Heart of Gold Award along with Collings Lakes Elementary School who will also be presented with the Heart of Gold Award for being the number one school in performing acts of kindness.

These kindness awards are a part of an awareness to focus on bringing both the community and the schools together to achieve greater happiness, productivity and peace.

The group of people who made all of this possible are the members of the Kindness Awareness Committee who consist of Committeewoman, Sue Barber; Township Clerk, LaVerne Gunter; and Township Staff Members, Milina Miller, Susan Bohren, Ronald Trebing, Dawn Scott, Diane Morgan and Bernadette Leonardi.

There will be an award ceremony to commemorate these acts of kindness and this will be held on Monday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the State House in Trenton.  This also includes our Stop the Hate and Violence With Kindness March and Heart of Gold Award Ceremony and Reception in honor our Mayor, Chuck Chiarello, Principals, Students and Kindness Awareness Committees who are recipients of our award.  The reception will be held in Room 103, across from the Senate Chambers.

Also in case of rain, this event will be held down the street at the New Jersey State Museum Auditorium.

Everyone is welcome, please join us, in Trenton.
